3 Reasons Why You Should be Present During Your Home Inspection

We promised you last week that we would go over in more detail the importance of you attending your home inspection. We can’t stress enough how vital it is that you’re there. It’s not just because we want to meet you (although that is a perk!), it’s also because you have the chance to learn a lot about your home.

At Precision Home Inspection, we aim to please our customers, but it’s also our goal to do a thorough job when we’re inspecting your home. Let’s talk in more detail about why we want you to be there.

We Want You to Know You’re Getting Your Money’s Worth

As the buyer of a property, you’re going to be spending money on your inspection. It’s important for you to know what you’re getting for it. You’ll feel more confident in the inspector’s report if you can see with your own eyes that they’re taking their time.

This is supposed to be a non-invasive, but very thorough examination of your home and property. It can be a long process, depending on the size of your home. It’s not uncommon for many inspections to take as long as four hours. If you’re there, you can follow us around and see for yourself that we check everything.

We Want to Explain Any Potential Issues in Person

Every inspection results in a report for the buyers. However, a report doesn’t allow us to tell you everything you need to know. For instance, let’s say the inspector finds an issue that isn’t necessarily a big deal now, but could be in the future. An older furnace is a great example. If you’re there, they’ll be able to give you more information in person. This saves you from going through the report and calling them later to get the details.

We Want You to Ask Questions

Also, if you’re there, it gives you the chance to ask us any questions that come to your mind. Your inspector should encourage questions, and always be willing to answer them. For example, you may wonder how long the refrigerator might last if it appears to be an older model. Your inspector can give you a professional estimation, but keep in mind that they can’t make any guarantees.

Purchasing a home is a big deal and a major investment. It’s important for you to know as much about it as you can. There’s no better way to find out everything you need to know than by attending your home inspection. This way, you can get the most out of it and maybe even fall in love with your new home all over again.

Don’t put off making your appointment for your home inspection! We make the process very easy for you. You can either call us, or schedule it directly through our website.

We’re excited for what buying a new home will mean for you, and we look forward to working with you as well!
