InterNACHI Membership and Your Home Inspection Company: Here’s Why it Matters

InterNACHI Membership and Your Home Inspection Company: Here’s Why it Matters

Not every Twin Tiers home inspector is InterNACHI certified, and that’s something you should definitely be looking for. Home inspection companies that take the time to go through these additional steps are ones that you know you can trust.

Home inspectors need to go through a rigorous process before they can start working on their own. They need to complete at least 140 hours of education, 40 of which must be unpaid field inspections with a licensed home inspector. They also have to complete a total of 100 inspections, take an exam from the state, and perform many more tasks before they can get licensed.

At Precision Home Inspection, we feel that it’s important to provide our customers with the very best service. That also means taking the time to go through the training and certifications to ensure we’re looking out for their best interests. Let’s take a moment and talk about why it matters for you to choose an InterNACHI certified inspector.

We’ve Taken an Online Inspector Course

InterNACHI offers an online inspector examination that must be passed. It is a free exam, but it adequately identifies the individual’s strengths and weaknesses. This allows us to see what we need to improve upon and make the necessary changes.

We’ve Taken Many Required Classes

Ethics are a very important part of being a home inspector, and this is something we take very seriously. Anyone interested in InterNACHI certification has to complete their Code of Ethics course. We also had to complete their Standards of Practice course as well.

InterNACHI has very high standards for their home inspectors. Taking these classes ensures that we are meeting, or even exceeding those standards, which is something we strive to do every single day.

We Have to Maintain Our Certification

It’s possible for home inspectors to lose their InterNACHI certifications. Keeping them means that we have to continue to educate ourselves through the different courses they offer through their program.

There are 12 different classes that we must complete, and they cover a wide variety of topics, including:

  • Safe Practices for Home Inspectors
  • Residential Plumbing
  • Performing Roof Inspections
  • Structural Issues
  • Moisture Intrusions

Keeping our certification also means that we have to complete 24 hours of continuing education. Anything done online has to be kept track of on a log. Every three years, we need to get a score of 80% or above on InterNACHI’s online inspector exam as well.
